Quality Engineer
Crem Recruitment
Job Description
Quality Engineer
Location: Newmarket
Salary: 45,000 to 55,000 + Benefits
Quality isn't just about finding problems. It's about making sure they don't happen again.
Crem Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our confidential client for a Quality Engineer to join a growing manufacturing business in Newmarket.
This isn't a replacement position.
It's a brand new role, created because the business is growing, production volumes are increasing and quality has become even more central to future success. You'll join a collaborative Quality team where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact from day one, while building a long term career within a business that is continuing to invest in both its people and its manufacturing capability.
We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding why things happen.
Someone who sees a quality issue and instinctively wants to investigate the root cause, work with others to improve the process and make sure the same problem never returns.
If you enjoy solving technical problems, working across engineering and manufacturing teams and driving continuous improvement, this could be exactly the challenge you're looking for.
The Role
Working alongside Engineering, Manufacturing and Production teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining and continually improving manufacturing quality.
You'll be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from supporting engineering changes and validating new processes through to leading investigations, internal audits and continuous improvement projects.
You'll spend as much time working with people as you will with procedures, helping teams identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce non conformances and strengthen manufacturing processes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Planning and carrying out internal quality audits
- Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System
- Investigating internal and external non conformances
- Leading Root Cause Analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Supporting customer complaint investigations
- Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to improve quality processes
- Validating engineering changes and maintaining quality documentation
- Carrying out production inspections
- Supporting regulatory compliance activities
- Driving Continuous Improvement initiatives across the business
What We're Looking For
We're far more interested in your manufacturing quality experience than the industry you've worked within.
You'll probably have experience as a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Engineer or similar within an engineering or manufacturing environment where physical products are produced.
You'll also bring:
- Experience working within ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Internal auditing experience
- Strong understanding of inspection and testing techniques
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent documentation and organisational skills
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- A practical, hands on approach
Experience with Root Cause Analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys or Ishikawa, along with CAPA, REACH, RoHS or First Article Inspection reporting would be highly advantageous, but isn't essential.
The Team
One thing that stood out when we met the hiring manager was the culture.
You'll be joining a close knit team where Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing work together rather than in silos. It's a relaxed environment where collaboration, approachability and teamwork are genuinely valued.
In fact, one of the first things the hiring manager told us was that a good sense of humour goes a long way. They're looking for someone who'll become part of the team, not simply fill a position.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage.
The Quality function is expected to continue growing over the coming years, creating genuine opportunities for progression as the team expands.
If you're looking for a role where you can influence improvements, develop your career and become an integral part of a growing manufacturing business, we'd love to hear from you.
