Role Overview This is a senior, siteâbased leadership opportunity within a wellâestablished and forwardâthinking international food manufacturing business, recognised for its technical excellence, strong values and longâterm investment in people and sustainability. The Quality & Environmental Manager will play a pivotal role in leading site quality assurance, laboratory operations, feed safety and environmental compliance.
Acting as the technical authority on site, the role combines handsâon scientific oversight with strategic leadership, driving a culture of proactive compliance, continuous improvement and environmental responsibility across manufacturing operations. Key Accountabilities Lead all site quality assurance, laboratory and environmental compliance activities Manage and develop QC laboratory operations, ensuring scientific integrity across microbiological, PCR and analytical testing Maintain and continuously improve integrated management systems aligned to ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, UFAS, FEMAS and FAMIâQS Own internal and external audit programmes, ensuring ongoing audit readiness and timely closure of nonâconformances Act as the site expert for HACCP, VACCP and TACCP, maintaining robust feed safety, defence and vulnerability frameworks Oversee nonâconforming product management, root cause investigations and CAPA implementation Manage siteâwide document control systems in line with quality and compliance policies Lead environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with permits, legislation and regulatory requirements Monitor and report on environmental KPIs, including energy, waste, water and emissions Drive environmental and sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction, efficiency and continuous improvement Deliver technical training and capability development across quality, laboratory and environmental disciplines Act as the primary technical interface with certification bodies, regulators, suppliers and thirdâparty partners Work closely with manufacturing, R&D and site leadership to support operational and strategic objectives People Profile Degree qualified in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. food science, microbiology, chemistry or similar) Proven experience in a quality leadership role within food, feed or FMCG manufacturing environments Strong laboratory background with handsâon experience in microbiology, PCR methods and aseptic techniques Demonstrable experience managing ISOâbased management systems and regulatory audits Working knowledge of environmental management systems, ideally ISO14001 Confident and credible leader with the ability to influence, coach and develop crossâfunctional teams Highly organised, detailâfocused and comfortable operating in a fastâpaced, regulated environment A proactive problem solver with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability We regret we can not offer visa sponsorship and can only consider candidates who hold right to work in the UK.
