Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions (BEWS) plays a fundamental role in achieving this goal by building a differentiated enterprise networking and security product portfolio and by scaling a global multi‑channel go‑to‑market. Leveraging Ericsson’s proven leadership in cellular, our long‑term goal is to become the default choice and trusted partner for any organization’s wireless network infrastructure – with cellular as the entry point and zero trust security as a norm. About This Opportunity The Director of Public Sector Sales at Ericsson will lead strategic sales initiatives across state, local, and education markets in the Eastern United States.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in public sector technology sales, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to deliver results in complex, competitive environments. What You Will Do Develop and execute regional sales strategy to expand Ericsson’s footprint in the Eastern U.S. public sector and achieve revenue targets. Lead and mentor the sales team, ensuring performance, goal attainment, and professional development.
Drive adoption of Ericsson’s wireless solutions across state, local, and education agencies through effective pipeline management and strategic relationships. Oversee complex, high‑value deals, including RFP navigation, government contracting, and compliance requirements. Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, product, and customer success teams to deliver tailored, integrated solutions for public sector needs.
Provide accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and market insights to senior leadership to influence corporate strategy and product development. Plan and direct regional activities, including strategic planning, goal setting, budgeting, and resource allocation. Recruit, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure sales objectives are met and maintain strong relationships with carriers, resellers, and distributors.
Communicate corporate strategy and keep leadership informed of key issues impacting business results. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure sales goals are met. Ensure senior leadership receives timely updates on critical issues and developments that could influence business outcomes.
The Skills You Bring Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of public sector sales experience (state, local government, education), including 5+ years in leadership roles and a proven track record of exceeding quotas. Sales Expertise: Demonstrated success managing large, complex deals and leading multi‑location teams; expert knowledge of the full sales cycle and experience engaging at the C‑level. Public Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of government procurement processes, compliance frameworks, and contract vehicles.
Industry Background: Proven success in public sector sales within telecommunications, cybersecurity, WWAN, SaaS, and/or IoT solutions; experience driving channel sales models. Leadership & Collaboration: Strong leadership, coaching, and team‑building skills; ability to work cross‑functionally with Channel, Marketing, Sales Operations, Product Development, and Customer Success. Strategic & Communication Skills: Exceptional business strategy aptitude, negotiation skills, and outstanding written and oral communication.

This role includes the opportunity for sales commissions as part of the Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Variable Compensation Plan. Actual payouts are based on performance against sales targets and the individual incentive target. Certain eligibility and pro‑ration rules may apply.
