Prototype Engineer

Role Overview We are seeking a Prototype Engineer to support the assembly, integration, testing, and development of UAV prototypes. The role involves working closely with design, systems, avionics, manufacturing, and technician teams to help convert engineering designs into functional aircraft. The successful candidate will support the integration of metallic structures, mechanical assemblies, avionics, and electrical systems while assisting with prototype builds, testing activities, and design iterations.

Key Responsibilities: Prototype Assembly & Integration Support assembly and integration of prototype aircraft and subsystems. Work with technicians to install structural, mechanical, and system components.

Assist in the integration of avionics, sensors, wiring harnesses, actuators, and electrical systems. Perform fit checks, alignment checks, and assembly validation activities. Manufacturing & Build Support Interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and CAD models.

Coordinate with fabrication vendors and machine shops for manufactured parts. Support inspection and acceptance of manufactured components. Assist in resolving manufacturing and assembly-related issues.

Testing & Troubleshooting Support ground testing, subsystem testing, and prototype validation activities. Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and integration issues. Assist in root-cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.

Record test observations and build feedback. Documentation Maintain build records and assembly documentation. Track prototype modifications and engineering changes.

Support preparation of test reports and technical documentation. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in: Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Production Engineering Required Experience: 2–3 years of experience in: Prototype development Aerospace UAVs Automotive Robotics Advanced product development Required Skills Experience working with metallic components and assemblies. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly documentation.

Understanding of manufacturing tolerances, fasteners, and mechanical assemblies. Experience supporting assembly and integration of electromechanical systems. Familiarity with workshop practices and prototype development environments.

Basic understanding of avionics, sensors, wiring, and electrical integration. Experience with UAVs or aerospace products. Exposure to avionics installation and systems integration.

Familiarity with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or Fusion 360. Experience working with machine shops and fabrication vendors. Exposure to testing and validation activities.
