Our team is multidisciplinary (teachers, therapists, aides, and support staff) and focused on hands-on, individualized instruction that helps students achieve independence at school and in the community.Why join us?Meaningful, student-centered work with measurable impact on mobility, safety, and independenceCollaborative team environment with strong classroom and therapy partnershipsRegular school-year schedule (weekday hours) that supports work-life balanceProfessional development and certification support for vision services professionalsJob DetailsWhat You'll Do (Core Responsibilities):Deliver 1:1 and small-group O&M instruction for students who are blind or visually impaired (ages 3–21), including those with additional disabilitiesTeach cane travel, spatial concepts, environmental navigation, route planning, and community mobility skillsCreate and implement individualized O&M goals and lesson plans; track progress toward IEP objectivesCollaborate with classroom teachers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and families to integrate O&M into daily routinesParticipate in IEP meetings, prepare documentation, and enter progress notes into the student record systemAdapt materials/approaches to meet sensory, cognitive, and mobility needsMaintain safety standards during on-campus and community travel instructionQualifications (Required / Preferred):Certification in Orientation & Mobility (e.g., COMS, ACVREP certification) or equivalent credentialing preferredK–12 or pediatric school experience working with students who are visually impaired; experience with multiple disabilities a strong plusStrong knowledge of cane techniques, environmental modification, and instructional strategies for O&MExcellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; able to communicate clearly with families and multidisciplinary teamsValid driver's license preferred for off-site/community instruction (if applicable)Willingness to complete criminal history / background checks and any required school onboardingBenefits & Perks:Health insurance, retirement plan options, and paid time off (typical school-year benefits)Ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunitiesSupportive multidisciplinary team and access to classroom resourcesInterested in hearing more?
