Job Description
Property Accountant
Philadelphia, PA
$75,000 – $90,000 / year
OVERVIEW
A growing real estate management company with a mixed commercial and multifamily portfolio is looking for a hands-on Property Accountant to own the full accounting cycle across both sides of the business. This is a great fit for someone who's comfortable moving between commercial lease accounting and residential property accounting in the same day, and who wants real ownership rather than a narrow slice of the books.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio that spans commercial and multifamily properties, including monthly and year-end close
- Own commercial CAM expense reconciliations from start to finish, independently
- Prepare and process NNN billing and base-year calculations for commercial tenants
- Handle full-cycle property accounting for the multifamily side of the portfolio, from rent roll to reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and variance reports
- Manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger activity
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and tenant billing
- Support audit preparation and respond directly to auditor requests
- Coordinate with property management teams to keep financials accurate and aligned across the portfolio
WHY YOU MATTER
Commercial and multifamily accounting don't usually live under one roof, and this portfolio needs someone who can run both without missing a beat. Your work keeps the numbers straight across a genuinely mixed book of business, and gives leadership a clear, accurate read on how the whole portfolio is actually performing.
WHAT IT TAKES
- 3-5+ years of property accounting experience, ideally across both commercial and multifamily
- Direct hands-on proficiency in Yardi — this is required, not a nice-to-have
- Real experience with CAM expense reconciliations, NNN billing, and base-year calculations
- Comfortable managing commercial lease accounting independently, without heavy oversight
- Strong understanding of full-cycle multifamily property accounting
- Solid grasp of GAAP and general accounting principles
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, especially juggling two property types at once
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Strong communication skills — this role works closely with property management teams
THE PERKS!
- $75,000 – $90,000 base salary
- 5–10% annual performance bonus
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
- 401(k)
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Paid Holidays
