Role overview : The Project Engineer specializing in Magnets and Magnetic Drives will lead the design, development, and integration of magnetic components and systems within medical devices.

This role involves creating innovative magnetic solutions that enhance device functionality, reliability, and patient outcomes. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new magnetic drive technologies from concept through development, testing, and commercialization while ensuring compliance with medical industry standards. Key responsibilities : Design and develop magnetic components, including magnets and magnetic drive systems, for use in medical devices.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software engineers, clinical specialists) to define product requirements and technical specifications. Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and validation testing of magnetic systems. Create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.

Support manufacturing by providing design input for process development, assembly, and quality control. Perform magnetic field analysis, simulations, and performance testing to optimize design. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO 13485) and quality standards.

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and design control activities. Analyze test data and provide reports and recommendations to stakeholders. Stay informed on emerging magnet technologies and industry trends to foster innovation.

Contribute to intellectual property efforts such as patent filings. Qualifications o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field. o Experience (3+ years) in product development with a focus on magnetic components or magnetic drive systems, preferably in the medical device industry. o Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools for magnetic field analysis. o Strong understanding of magnet materials, magnetic circuit design, and electromagnetic principles. o Familiarity with medical device development processes and regulatory requirements. o Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting magnetic systems. o Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills. o Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects. Preferred Attributes o Experience with implantable or wearable medical devices. o Knowledge of biocompatibility and medical device manufacturing processes. o Advanced certifications or training in magnetics or product development.
