Our client Thames Valley Police are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their esteemed organisation within the public services sector. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the financial management of multiple projects, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment with the organisation's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Take complete ownership of the end-to-end financial management of force projects, including rigorous reporting, policy implementation, and procedure adherence.
- Strategic Partnership: Work closely with project managers to analyse and assess financial performance in relation to project milestones, ensuring alignment with financial outcomes.
- Performance Discussions: Lead financial performance discussions, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve key objectives while proactively identifying potential overspends and risks.
- Financial Excellence: Champion a culture of financial literacy and excellence, promoting good financial management practises and driving value for money.
- Business Case Development: Collaborate with Business Case authors to produce robust financial assessments, providing assurance to project governance boards.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Qualifications: CCAB Qualified Accountant with ongoing membership in a relevant professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW).
- Experience: Proven track record in project and capital accounting, coupled with an understanding of project and programme management methodologies.
- Relationship Building: Exceptional ability to build and develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders, applying a solution-focused approach.
- Communication Skills: Very strong influencing skills, capable of conveying complex financial data clearly to diverse audiences.
- Analytical Acumen: Demonstrated commercial and strategic insight, advising on financial risks and investment options effectively.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with financial information systems.
