Programmer Analyst (Level 1) - Symbiotic Group Inc. Employment Type: Graduated Student Job ID: DSEFPA003 Start Date: Spring 2026 Location: Ottawa / Gatineau Starting Salary (Minimum): $48,000 Security Clearance Required: Secret Clearance – assistance will be provided to qualified candidates. Basic eligibility requires proof of Canadian citizenship for 10 years. Language Requirements: English Overview: We are recruiting a Junior Programmer to support the Department of National Defence. Program Analysts will work on software applications that support the operations of the Department. Responsibilities: Select and incorporate available software programs; Design detailed programs, flow charts, and diagrams indicating mathematical computation and sequence of machine operations necessary to copy and process data and print the results; Translate detailed flow charts into coded machine instructions and confer with technical personnel in planning programs; Verify accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample data and testing them via system acceptance test runs made by operating personnel; Correct program errors by revising instructions or altering the sequence of operations; Test instructions and assemble specifications, flow charts, diagrams, layouts, programming and operating instructions to document applications for future modification or reference; Create and modify code and software; Create and modify screens and reports; Design methods and procedures for small computer systems and subsystems of larger systems; Produce forms, manuals, programs, data files, and procedures for systems and/or applications; Perform any other work related to this category. Technical Criteria: Demonstrated experience or education with one of the following languages: ADA, Java, C#, C++ Education: Must have a university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Development, or a similar discipline. Lived Experience: Indigenous lived experience is an integral part of this position. The role will have a close relationship with the Indigenous community in Canada and is part of the Canada–PSIB–Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business or IPP-Indigenous Participation Plans.
