As a Production Engineer at Normet, you'll combine technical expertise, problem-solving, and innovation to deliver engineering outputs required to support both equipment delivery and service-related engineering activities, ensuring all work is fit for purpose, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned to customer and site-specific requirements.
This includes the preparation and control of engineering drawings, specifications, BOM structures, and modification records, as well as the development of aftermarket, upgrade, and service solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engineering design, documentation, and specification of components and modifications to Normets equipment and service-related projects
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) using PDM systems (Sovelia) aligned to defined customer requirements and final configuration scope for both equipment builds and service work
- Support the transfer and alignment of BOMs into ERP systems (Smart365)
- Develop upgrade, rebuild, and service kits, including design drawings and critical parts lists, supporting both new equipment and installed fleet requirements in collaboration with Global Engineering
- Prepare specifications and instructions for assembly, maintenance, and modification of equipment across both workshop and field service environments
- Review and validate engineering designs and enhancements to ensure compliance with Australian standards, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Provide engineering support during workshop execution and service activities, resolving design and configuration issues impacting delivery or field performance
- Coordinate preparation of machine documentation including operation manuals, spare parts manuals, MDRs, and supporting materials (LinkOne).
About You
You're an engineer who enjoys solving real problems and seeing the results of your work in the field. You're curious, practical and proactive, with the ability to balance technical detail with commercial outcomes.
You'll Bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline along with 5 plus years’ experience in production engineering, design engineering, or similar role within heavy industry
- Demonstrated experience with mobile equipment, mechanical systems, or heavy machinery along with experience in hydraulics.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, BOM structures, and equipment configuration
- Ability to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions.
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault
- Working knowledge of PLM/PDM and ERP systems (e.g. Sovelia, LinkOne, D365/AX)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & SharePoint)
- Proactive and results driven with a curious mindset with a strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across technical and operational teams
- Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple builds and service activities concurrently
- High-level analytical and problem-solving capability, particularly in resolving production and field-related engineering issues.
Highly Desirable
- Experience in underground mining equipment
- Experience across both new equipment delivery and service or aftermarket environments
- Familiarity with PDM/ERP systems (e.g. Sovelia, D365)
- Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) or localisation activities.

- Flexibility to travel both interstate and globally when required.
