Job Description

Ferra Engineering is looking for an experienced Production Engineer to join our Engineering team in Tingalpa.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being hands-on with manufacturing and wants to play a key role in improving production processes, solving technical challenges and supporting the delivery of high-quality products.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will independently develop and optimise manufacturing methods, tooling and processes to achieve safe, repeatable and efficient production outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Define and develop manufacturing methods and optimise process flows; working closely with Operations and Engineering to drive best practices.

Support Production Readiness activities through process development, validation and good documentation practice.

Conduct production trials and validation, using data to drive decisions.

Ensuring safe work methods are embedded into processes; assessing and mitigating risks prior to implementation.

Design and implementation of fixturing, tooling and manufacturing aids into production.

Design for Manufacture analysis of components and assemblies. Active participation in customer discussions regarding DFM and process optimisation.

Assist in first article and prove out activities, collating feedback and implementing improvements for rate production.

Lead the resolution of manufacturing issues, conducting technical investigations and NCR/RCCA activities.

Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives, collaborating with broader team across programs; including identification of new plant and machinery.

Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with AS9100 requirements.

Mentor junior members of the team and champion an environment of learning and development

About you

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in an applicable field e.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing.

Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.

Experience in a manufacturing and production environment, with preference to a regulated industry.

Working knowledge of regulated industry standards, regulations, and certification processes; preference to Aerospace (AS9100).

Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles and judgement to deliver technical outcomes that satisfy customer, operational, quality and business requirements.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to successfully work across departments within the business, suppliers and end customer.

Adaptable and comfortable working in a matrix style organisation, managing competing priorities and influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Proven capability to independently manage and deliver assigned scopes of work, driving actions to completion while managing technical, schedule and stakeholder risks.

Aerospace and Defence experience advantageous.
