Within Value Chain Management (VCM), the Product Manager works under the direction of the Value Chain Leader and supports Product Leaders as assigned. The Product Manager may also be directly responsible for a product or portfolio of products. VCM is accountable for our manufacturing division's product strategy in alignment with our manufacturing and global Human Health divisions brand and franchise goals, and leads continuous improvement of the product supply chain.
The product scope includes new and in‑line products within specific Customer Business Lines: Diversified Brands, Biologics, Primary Care, Women’s Health, Oncology, Immunology, Hospital & Specialty, or Vaccines. Primary Activities Support a Value Chain Leader or Product Leader in end‑to‑end value chain management, establishing strategic direction and key focus areas for assigned products. Support development of Product Master Plans that define comprehensive global product strategies, including lifecycle management, or lead the development of product master plans for assigned portfolio.
Project‑manage the priorities from the product master plans that drive portfolio/network value creation opportunities to maximize brand assets. Support supply chain design teams for new products including drug substance, drug product, and packaging source decisions; lead or support the supply chain working group (sub‑team of IDST); project‑manage launch preparation and execution for new products. Lead or support the Value Chain Management Teams (VCMT) composed of cross‑functional representation from end‑to‑end functions including Commercial, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, External Manufacturing, and other related groups as appropriate.
May lead or support End‑to‑End Product Risk Assessment for assigned products or supply nodes, including risk assessments, identification & prioritization of mitigation strategies, development of recommendations, and alignment of sponsorship to execute. Engage in resolution of global product disruptions where long‑term strategic supply chain alternatives must be established, developing and implementing action plans with appropriate escalation and sponsorship. Education Minimum Requirement BA/BS in Engineering, Science, or Supply Chain Management with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience.
Required Experience And Skills Project Management skills or certification preferred. Broad cross‑functional skills and business/operations experience, with knowledge of functions supporting the business such as Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory, Quality, Compliance, Manufacturing Operations, and Commercial Operations. Strategic thinking and ability to assimilate highly complicated and multi‑factored inputs into an integrated plan.
Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions and influence direction in ambiguous situations. Proactive mindset and ability to identify and engage in opportunities to improve value chains and related business processes within the organization. Cross‑functional/cross‑divisional project management skills with geographically diverse teams.
Preferred Experience And Skills Knowledge of “best practices” in Supply Chain Management. Lean Six Sigma Certification. Experience in leading cross‑functional teams or initiatives.
