Product Design Engineer

Job Description We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation battery energy storage systems. This role focuses on Battery Management System (BMS) design, electrical system architecture, product validation, and supporting new product introduction from concept through production. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and validation to bring new products from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design & Development Develop schematic designs and perform component selection for new products, including low-voltage and high-voltage Battery Management Systems (BMS), Wi-Fi dongle module and meter collar. Design PCB layouts using Altium Designer. Create and maintain PCBA documentation, CADs and Bill of Materials (BOM).

Electrical System Architecture Manage the product, electricalsystem,and architecture. Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities to ensure system reliability and safety. Battery Data & System Analysis Collect, monitor, and analyze battery performance data to support product development and optimization.

Support troubleshooting and evaluation of battery system performance. New Product Introduction (NPI) Collaborate with the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) team to introduce new products into manufacturing. Support manufacturing readiness and production ramp-up activities.

Product Validation Support Design Validation (DV), Engineering Validation (EV), and Production Validation (PV) testing for new product development. Review test data and assist with design improvements. Test Development Design and build custom test fixtures, wiring harnesses, and testing setups for battery packs and BMS evaluation.

Support prototype builds and laboratory testing. Qualifications: Required Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field. Experience with schematic design and electronic component selection.

Experience with PCB design software such as Altium Designer. Knowledge of PCBA development and BOM management. Understanding of battery systems and BMS architecture.

Preferred Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or EV battery systems. Knowledge of FMEA, DFM, and NPI processes. Experience building test fixtures and wiring harnesses for electrical testing.

Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills. Physical Requirements: This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, working with live electricity, and other physical activities.
