Capital Engineering is looking for an Intermediate/Senior Process Engineer in Edmonton to lead process design and deliver high-impact energy and industrial projects from concept through execution in a collaborative, client-focused environment. This role is ideal for a P.Eng. with 5+ years of experience who thrives on hands-on design, multidisciplinary teamwork, and mentoring while working on complex facilities projects. What You’ll Do Deliver conceptual and detailed process engineering designs and calculations for greenfield and brownfield projects.

Conduct design development and process simulations including providing process specifications for equipment and instrumentation. Create, review and revise key process deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, datasheets). Contribute to plot plans and piping layouts in collaboration with other disciplines.

Develop design basis documents and reports such as Design Basis and Study Level Reports. Review and apply relevant standards, regulations, codes and guidelines applicable for task, and identify areas of deviation or concern. Work within and follow all company work procedures, process technical guidelines, quality assurance plans, safety regulations and specific customer/project procedures.

Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams and project managers. Engage directly with clients to understand needs and deliver practical, high-quality solutions. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of Chemical engineering experience on industrial/oil and gas projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Professional Engineer designation with APEGA, in good standing. Strong technical problem solving and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. Experience with Process Hazard Analysis methodology (i.e. HAZOP, What-if).

Experience with application of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics. Experience with Design Basis development. Ability to specify/size process equipment and instruments.

Proven track record of managing and performing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. AFT Fathom, HYSYS and other simulation experience is required. Willingness and experience mentoring junior engineers and EITs.

Experience in oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, mining, or utilities facilities. Oil sands and tailings experience is considered an asset. Site/field based industrial work experience is considered an asset.
