Overview Continental Electronics Corporation is a leading provider of RF technologies and innovative solutions with 80 years of proven performance. CEC has experienced significant recent growth and has established itself as the go-to supplier for a diversified product line supporting a wide spectrum of markets from commercial products, military customers, to space research laboratories. The Principal Systems Engineer imparts Systems Engineering structure, and guides associated staff, to support development of state‑of‑the‑art RF transmitter systems.
This individual is responsible for requirements definition, alignment across functional teams, regular communication of progress as well as escalation of any issues/blockers. In addition, the Principal Systems Engineer interfaces with suppliers and contractors to ensure technical requirements compliance. The Principal Systems Engineer will work closely with the System Architect (the Project Engineer) to support all Systems Engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of the project/program.
Responsibilities Lead requirement definition, allocation and traceability for high power RF transmission systems Experience with system integration and test planning including Design Verification Test (DVT) and Acceptance Testing Develops or champions the implementation of systems engineering processes to achieve best‑in‑class execution, focusing on quality, schedule, and cost performance Work cross‑functionally; define and develop System Requirements documentation for all programs. Manage program Verification and Validation documentation and document adherence to requirements Contribute to engineering proposals to align with business opportunities to enable product definition alignment with customer needs Collaborate effectively across functional teams, including Program Office, Engineering, Operations, and Quality When operating within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment, work with the development team to manage the unique demands and regulatory requirements Develop, monitor and report technical cost and schedule project status to program management and engineering leadership Serve as the Systems Engineering Lead in both customer and internal meetings Knowledge of Control Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value (EV) Able to create and maintain technical development schedules to support engineering design and manufacturing timelines Generate and manage interface control documents between internal and external subsystems Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business Qualifications 12 years of experience with B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent OR 8 years of experience with a master’s degree Ability to obtain DoD issued Secret level clearance Must be able to effectively interface with program management, engineering leadership and customers A hands‑on leader who is willing to dive deep as and when needed Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with project teams, management and customers Demonstrate high business acumen with ability to analyze complex problems and data, and make high‑quality, data‑driven decisions Some travel will be required Preferred qualifications Familiarity with VLF, HF or other RF systems. Previous experience with systems engineering tools like Cameo Requirements Modeler, SysML, DOORS, and MATLAB Experience across multiple technical domains including RF, power, HVAC, software, and firmware The pay range above represents annual base salary only.
Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job‑related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations. Pay may range from $175,000 to $200,000 annually. Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
