Principal Engineer - Mechanical

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer – Product Design with 5–6 years of experience in product development, preferably in the metering or electronics manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in SolidWorks, hands-on experience in plastic part design, and the ability to handle Mold design-related queries in coordination with tooling vendors and production teams. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end mechanical design activities including concept development, 3D modelling, drawing release, design validation, and manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for energy meters / electronic products. Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks. Handle plastic part design considering DFM/DFA principles.

Address and resolve mould design and tooling-related issues in coordination with mould vendors. Support manufacturing during tool trials, pilot runs, and mass production. Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and stack-up analysis.

Prepare and maintain BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation. Perform root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective actions. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Electronics, Quality, SCM, Production).

Ensure compliance with industry standards and company design guidelines. Requirements Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Part, Assembly, Drawing, Sheet Metal, Surfacing). Good understanding of plastic injection moulding processes.

Experience in product design and development lifecycle. Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and fits. Hands-on experience with DFMEA, DFM, DFA concepts.

Ability to interact with tool makers and vendors Exposure to prototype development and validation testing. Good problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and documentation skills.

B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
