The Role
A hands-on Power BI Developer position responsible for designing, building and maintaining reporting solutions that deliver clear, actionable insight to stakeholders across the business. You will work closely with business teams to understand their reporting needs, translate requirements into well-structured data models and visually compelling dashboards, and ensure data accuracy and consistency throughout. This role suits someone who is technically strong in Power BI and SQL, comfortable engaging with non-technical stakeholders and passionate about turning data into meaningful business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports aligned to business requirements
- Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform and prepare data for reporting purposes
- Develop and maintain DAX measures and calculated columns to support complex reporting logic
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency and integrity across all reports and dashboards
- Apply best practice in data visualisation to ensure clarity, usability and accessibility
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate existing reporting processes
- Document reporting solutions and maintain data models to support ongoing maintainability
What You'll Need
Essential:
- Proven experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports in a commercial environment
- Strong SQL skills with experience querying and manipulating data from relational databases
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles and best practice in report design
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and quality
- UK work authorisation
Desirable:
- Proficiency in DAX for developing complex measures and calculations
- Experience with Power Query and M language for data transformation
- Familiarity with Azure data services or cloud-based data platforms
- Experience working within an Agile or iterative delivery environment
