Power BI Developer

Job Description 1) Dashboards and Reports a) Design, build, and maintain business dashboards and reports using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Tableau depending on the project stack b) Ensure reports are accurate, visually clear, and aligned to business objectives c) Continuously refine and improve reports based on stakeholder feedback. 2) KPI and Metrics Design a) Work with business teams to identify, define, and document Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and business metrics b) Translate business requirements into structured data visualisation designs c) Ensure consistency and standardisation of KPI definitions across all reports 3) Semantic Layer Development a) Build and maintain the semantic layer including facts, dimensions, hierarchies, and calculated measures b) Design data models using Star Schema and Fact and Dimension table structures c) Ensure the semantic layer serves as a reliable and consistent single source of truth for all reporting 4) Business Collaboration a) Partner closely with business teams and stakeholders to understand reporting needs. b) Validate numbers, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy before reports go live c) Gather and incorporate feedback iteratively to deliver reports that truly serve business needs. 5) Performance and User Experience Optimization a) Optimize dashboard load times and query performance for large datasets. b) Design reports with a focus on usability, clarity, and end-user experience c) Implement row-level security and access controls where required Requirements Who We Are Looking For: A business-savvy BI Developer with 4 to 6 years of hands-on Power BI or Tableau experience, strong data modelling skills, and the ability to own the full reporting layer end to end. • Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling • Experience building semantic layers — facts, dimensions, and calculated measures • Solid understanding of Star Schema and data warehousing concepts • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy • Experience with SQL for data querying and validation This role is based in Kolkata.
