Platform Engineer – AWS & Nexus Repository London / Hybrid 12-Month Contract £700 per day (Inside IR35) BPSS clearance required to start | Must be eligible for SC Clearance We are looking for an experienced Platform Enginee r to join a high-profile programme, taking ownership of the design, deployment, automation, and operational support of a highly available Sonatype Nexus Repository Manage r platform hosted on AW S .This role is ideal for an engineer with strong expertise across AWS infrastructure, Linux administration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and DevOps practice s, with experience delivering secure, scalable, and resilient platforms . Key Responsibiliti es AWS Platform Engineer ingDesign, build and support AWS infrastructure hosting Sonatype Nexus Reposito ry.Provision and manage Linux-based EC2 environmen ts.Configure and maintain VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups and network AC Ls.Implement Application Load Balancers (ALB) and scalable, resilient architectur es.Configure EBS storage and S3-based backup and artefact archival solutio ns.Manage Route 53 DNS configurati on.Develop and maintain backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabiliti es. Nexus Repository Administra tionInstall, configure and administer Sonatype Nexus Repository Mana ger.Configure hosted, proxy and group repositor ies.Support repository formats including Maven, Docker, npm, NuGet, PyPI and Raw.Manage blob stores, retention policies and repository clean-up proces ses.Configure SSL/TLS certificates and HTTPS acc ess.Integrate Nexus with LDAP and Active Directory environme nts.Perform upgrades, patching and ongoing platform maintena nce. Linux Systems Administr ationAdminister Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Amazon Linux and Ubuntu environm ents.Configure storage, file systems and core serv ices.Manage users, permissions and access con trol.Troubleshoot operating system, networking and application is sues.Optimise platform performance and resource utilisa tion. Automation & Infrastructure a s CodeDevelop and maintain automated deployments using Terraform, Ansible and scripting tools.Build and enhance Infrastructure as Code solu tions.Automate platform provisioning, Nexus deployment and configuration manag ement.Automate backup, patching and disaster recovery proc esses.Support version control and release processes usin g Git. Security & Com plianceImplement AWS and Linux security best pra ctices.Configure IAM roles, policies and least-privilege access co ntrols.Manage encryption using A WS KMS.Utilise AWS Secrets Manager and Systems Manager Parameter Store.Implement operating system hardening, certificate management and vulnerability remed iation.Support audit logging, monitoring and compliance requir ements. Monitoring & Op erationsImplement and manage monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, CloudTrail and AWS Config.Support platform monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning.Investigate incidents and conduct root cause a nalysis.Maintain operational excellence across the platform estate. CI/CD In tegrationIntegrate Nexus with CI/CD toolchains including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and Azur e DevOps.Support artefact publishing, dependency management and Docker repo sitories.Drive secure software supply chain practices and build opti misation.
