Platform Engineer

Job Title: Platform Engineer (RedHat OpenShift / Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO)) Job Type: 1-month Contract (possibility of extension) Location: Montreal, QC (remote with occasional onsite visits) Start Date : ASAP Rate: $130/hr Inc. Position Overview Our client is seeking a Platform Engineer to support application onboarding, platform configuration, automation, and operational activities within a Red Hat OpenShift environment . This role will focus heavily on identity and access management integration, OpenShift platform administration, automation through CI/CD pipelines, and supporting application teams throughout deployment and migration initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Keycloak, Active Directory integrations, OpenShift administration, and Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO), along with the ability to troubleshoot complex platform, networking, and application connectivity issues. Key Responsibilities Identity & Access Management Configure and administer Keycloak environments, including realm creation and management. Integrate Keycloak with Active Directory and other enterprise identity providers.

Automate group mapping, role assignments, and access controls through CI/CD pipelines. Support authentication and authorization requirements across multiple applications and environments. OpenShift Platform Engineering Support application onboarding and deployment within Red Hat OpenShift and ARO environments.

Create and manage namespaces/projects, resource quotas, and RBAC configurations. Implement and maintain platform standards, templates, and automation frameworks. Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure platform reliability and scalability.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery Validate High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) requirements for individual applications. Participate in DR testing activities and implement required platform adjustments. Support workload-specific resiliency and recovery strategies.

Networking & Connectivity Configure and troubleshoot application routing, DNS entries, and TLS/SSL certificates. Resolve application connectivity issues within OpenShift environments. Configure and support integrations with databases, messaging platforms, APIs, and identity services.

Security & Compliance Review and implement security policies and platform controls. Manage security exceptions and adapt platform policies to application requirements. Participate in security reviews and remediation activities.

Observability & Monitoring Configure and support application-level logging, metrics collection, and distributed tracing. Develop dashboards and monitoring solutions to improve visibility and operational support. Assist teams with troubleshooting performance and availability issues.

Migration & Cutover Support Support dual-run environments during migrations and platform transitions. Assist with traffic management, issue resolution, cutover planning, and execution. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and migration outcomes.

Automation & Continuous Improvement Extend and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Develop reusable templates and automate recurring operational tasks. Identify opportunities to improve platform efficiency and operational maturity.

Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift administration and support. Extensive experience configuring and administering Keycloak. Experience integrating Keycloak with Active Directory.

Strong experience automating identity and access management processes through CI/CD pipelines. Experience with RBAC, namespace management, and OpenShift security controls. Strong troubleshooting skills across platform, networking, and application layers.

Experience working in enterprise environments supporting multiple applications and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO). Experience supporting High Availability and Disaster Recovery initiatives.

Knowledge of DNS, TLS/SSL certificates, ingress routing, and network troubleshooting. Experience with application observability tools including logging, metrics, tracing, and dashboarding solutions. Experience supporting application migrations and dual-run environments.

Experience developing infrastructure and platform automation solutions. Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD best practices.
