Platform Engineer

Job Title: Payments Platform Engineer Location: Hyderabad, Work from office Experience Required: 8+Years Role Overview We are seeking a Payments Platform Engineer to build and support mission-critical payment systems within a highly regulated enterprise banking environment. This role involves designing secure, scalable, and compliant platforms that integrate modern cloud-native technologies with traditional banking infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring high availability, transaction integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience across payment platforms.

Key Responsibilities Design and maintain enterprise-grade payment platforms supporting high-volume, low-latency transactions Architect solutions that integrate modern microservices with legacy systems (e.g., core banking, WAS-based applications) Build and manage secure cloud infrastructure (AWS) aligned with enterprise governance standards Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform with strong controls, auditability, and versioning Manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes in regulated environments Automate provisioning, configuration, and patching using Ansible Implement and support messaging systems (MQ) for guaranteed delivery and transactional integrity Develop and maintain event-driven architectures (Kafka, enterprise event buses, etc.) Administer and support WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and middleware components Ensure compliance with banking regulations and security standards (PCI-DSS, SOX, etc.) Implement resilience patterns (failover, retries, circuit breakers, disaster recovery) Monitor systems using enterprise observability tools and ensure SLA adherence Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis (RCA) Collaborate with risk, audit, and security teams to meet compliance requirements Required Skills & Qualifications 5–8 years of experience in enterprise platforms, banking, or financial services Strong understanding of payment systems (ACH, Wire/SWIFT) Hands-on experience with: Terraform (Infrastructure as Code in controlled environments) Kubernetes (enterprise-grade clusters) Ansible (configuration and patch automation) Code Deploy (AWS) Experience with enterprise messaging systems: IBM MQ (preferred) Kafka Strong experience with WebSphere Application Server (WAS) or similar middleware Solid knowledge of event-driven and distributed architectures Proficiency in Python / Go / Shell scripting Experience with CI/CD pipelines in regulated environments Strong Linux/Unix administration skills Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in banking or payments domain (often mandatory) Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks : PCI-DSS SOX Data privacy regulations Experience working with legacy-modern hybrid architectures Exposure to API gateways, service mesh, and enterprise integration patterns Knowledge of HA/DR strategies across multi-region deployments Certifications in cloud platforms or Kubernetes Key Competencies Strong focus on security, compliance, and auditability Ability to operate in highly regulated, process-driven environments Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex distributed systems Strong documentation and change management discipline Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (risk, audit, infra, app teams) Nice to Have Experience with payment gateways, fraud systems, or reconciliation platforms Familiarity with mainframe integrations or core banking systems Exposure to SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets) Experience handling production incidents in 24x7 environments
