Why this role exists: The Planning & Performance Analyst acts as a technical and commercial engine room for the Finance team, driving the application, data integrity, and automation of enterprise planning software. This role solves manual reporting burdens by leading the transition to automated Power BI dashboards and managing the end-to-end data lifecycle within OneStream and SAP. This role partners across the business to assess capital proposals, build complex financial models, and deliver actionable insights that inform the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and strategic projects.
Where you will make a difference: In this role you will: Systems Mastery & Reporting Automation: Lead the OneStream reporting process end-to-end, including rolling forecasts, budget loads, and clearing validation errors. Automate and improve OneStream workflows to significantly reduce monthly processing time through advanced systems knowledge and automation between SAP and OST. Take ownership of standard reporting across business areas (e.g., B2B, Stores), partnering with the Reporting Team to move from manual to automated formats.
Act as the key Finance contact to validate data post-automation in Power BI before releasing reports to the business. Own and manage Allocation rules in SAP to finalize the budget P&L. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the annual budget and ongoing forecast processes, including updating templates, uploading data into SAP, and reviewing cash flow and balance sheet models.
Assist in the preparation of Budget Presentation packs and Day 4 monthly reporting for the SLT and Wesfarmers. Leverage data modelling skills to convert large complex data sets into measurable and actionable insights. Prepare ongoing project cost forecasts (e.g., 18-month rolling) using data from Success Factors and other systems.
Capital Expenditure & Investment Assessment: Prepare and coordinate capital expenditure proposals for new stores, relocations, and property purchases at pace and with high accuracy. Prepare store-related feasibility assessments, ensuring assumptions accurately reflect existing retail trading conditions. Assess and present business proposals on behalf of departments seeking capital, ensuring they meet Wesfarmers and internal benchmarks/hurdles.
Support the development of commercial assumptions informing key investment decisions. Governance & Continuous Improvement: Maintain appropriate records of all approved and non-approved capital expenditure proposals. Assist with quarterly Board papers, specifically regarding financial performance and capital expenditure updates.
Identify and drive both process and commercial efficiency opportunities, particularly those related to the annual budgeting process. Share Power BI and system knowledge across the wider Finance team to embed capability across all Business Partners. Internal Partners: Officeworks Senior Leadership Team, Functional Managers, and Fixed Assets Accountant. External Partners: Wesfarmers Accounting team and OneStream software support. What success looks like: Automation Gains: Successful reduction of workload in the reporting cycle from days to hours through automation.

Project Pace: Timely and accurate preparation of store feasibility assessments and capital proposals at pace. Systems Integrity: Zero-error loads for estimates and forecasts in OneStream and SAP.

Qualifications and work experience: Essential: Experience: Minimum 6-7 years in financial analysis, commercial finance, or management reporting. Education: Degree in business or a related field; CA/CPA qualification strongly preferred.
Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel modelling and PowerPoint presentation skills. Analytical Ability: Strong skills in discounted cash flow (DCF) preparation and three-way financial modelling (P&L, Cashflow, Balance Sheet). Attributes: Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while operating at pace.
Systems Knowledge: Experience with SAP, Business Warehouse (BW), OneStream, or Power BI. Preferred: Retail Context: Experience in retail, finance, or online environments is highly desirable. Reporting: Experience in business report writing and senior stakeholder engagement.
Modelling: Exposure to a three-way financial model (P&L, Cashflow, Balance Sheet).
