Physical Education Teacher

Job Summary

The Sports Educator (PYP) plays a key role in developing students’ physical literacy, wellbeing, and personal growth through the lens of the IB PSPE framework. This role focuses on nurturing balanced individuals who value physical activity, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. The educator fosters an inquiry-driven learning environment where students explore movement, relationships, and identity while building confidence, resilience, and respect for themselves and others.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate sports and physical education lessons aligned with the PYP PSPE strands — Active Living, Identity, and Interactions.
• Promote holistic development by integrating physical, personal, and social goals within the curriculum.
• Foster inquiry-based and reflective learning that connects physical activity with real-world health and wellbeing.
• Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and respect through cooperative and competitive games.
• Ensure inclusive participation, accommodating different learning styles, abilities, and needs.
• Organize and lead sports events, inter-house competitions, and school-wide fitness initiatives.
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers and other specialists to integrate PSPE concepts within transdisciplinary units.
• Maintain safe, engaging, and well-managed learning environments that promote fair play and positive conduct.
• Track student progress through observation, reflection, and formative assessments aligned with PYP expectations.
• Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices in physical education and IB pedagogy.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Human Movement, or a related discipline.
• IB Category 1 or above certification in PSPE / Physical Education (preferred).
• Knowledge of child development, health education, and physical literacy in early and primary years.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in Physical Education, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
• Proven ability to design inclusive and engaging sports programmes for young learners.
• Experience in organizing inter-house or inter-school sports events and activities.
• Familiarity with inquiry-based and reflective teaching approaches.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
