Job Description

People & Operations Lead

Location: São Paulo, Brazil

Reports to: Director and Head of Operations,

Brazil Type: Full-time, on-site (Brazil office)

About the role

We're hiring a senior operator to run the Brazil office and the People function for the Brazil team. You'll be the person who keeps the office working day-to-day and the person our team comes to when something is hard — a performance issue, a conflict, a misaligned expectation. You report to the Director and Head of Operations, Brazil, and partner closely with the US HQ and our external recruiting team.

This is a roughly 60/40 role: 60% People, 40% Operations. Over time, as the team grows, the People share will increase.

What you'll own

People (Brazil)

  • Conflict management: mediate, escalate when needed, partner with the Director on hard calls
  • Performance management: Growth conversations, PIPs when required
  • Onboarding and offboarding end-to-end — first day to last day, paperwork and the human side
  • Culture and team rituals: offsites, recognition, all-hands, the glue
  • Recruiting coordination: brief, calibrate, and review candidates with the external recruiting team (you do not source)

Operations (Brazil office)

  • Run the office: vendors, facilities, supplies, the day-to-day
  • Vendor management: Accountant, service providers, contract negotiation
  • Brazil-side RH compliance: benefits, regulatory requirements, statutory obligations
  • Finance ops: AP/AR, vendor payments, bank reconciliation support, accountant handoff (you execute; the Director approves)
  • Hire and manage an Office Coordinator once volume justifies it

What success looks like in the first 6 months

  • The office runs without you firefighting daily
  • Every new hire in Brazil has a clean first week — paperwork, equipment, manager alignment
  • At least one hard People conversation handled well and documented
  • The recruiting team has a clear point of contact on the Brazil side
  • Brazil RH compliance is in order, no statutory gaps

What we're looking for

  • Senior IC experience: 7+ years with real depth in at least two of {People/HRBP, Office Operations, Finance Ops}. You've owned outcomes end-to-end in a fast-moving environment.
  • Conflict competence: you've sat in hard 1:1s, mediated disputes, and delivered bad news — and you can tell us how
  • Brazilian RH fluency: you know Brazilian labor law, benefits, and compliance at a working level (you're not a lawyer, but you know what you don't know)
  • Operational ownership: you've run an office, managed vendors, and owned AP/AR or similar finance ops
  • Bilingual: strong written and spoken English; Portuguese native
