Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable part-time English and Literature teacher to support primary and secondary students studying international curricula. The successful candidate should be confident in independently teaching writing, literature and textual analysis.
Key Requirements
- At least five years of relevant English or Literature teaching experience
- Strong knowledge of the International Baccalaureate framework
- Practical teaching experience in both the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP)
- Familiarity with IGCSE/GCSE English Literature curricula, assessment objectives and examination requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification or registration from a major English-speaking education system, such as Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, New Zealand or Ireland
- Ability to independently plan and deliver high-quality lessons in: Creative, persuasive and academic writing; Literary and non-literary textual analysis; Close reading and evidence-based interpretation; Essay structure, argument development and critical thinking
- Ability to differentiate instruction according to students' ages, academic levels and learning needs
- Patient, responsible, dependable and highly organised
- Strong communication, classroom-management and problem-solving skills
- Available to teach approximately 5-8 hours per week
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese will be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging English and Literature lessons to primary and secondary students
- Plan lessons aligned with IB PYP/MYP and IGCSE/GCSE learning objectives
- Develop students' writing, reading comprehension, critical thinking and textual-analysis skillsSelect appropriate literary and non-literary texts and prepare relevant learning materials
- Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
- Monitor student progress and communicate clearly with parents when required
- Maintain a consistent, professional and supportive learning environment
