Packaging Designer
Corugami
Job Description
About Corugami
Corugami is a packaging innovation partner. We handle packaging for some of India's fastest growing D2C brands, from the first structural idea through to production.
We are looking for a Packaging Designer to join our team in Pune. You will work on a wide range of projects — new launches, packaging refreshes, e-commerce and shipping formats, gifting and PR kits, retail packs — across food, beauty, wellness, apparel and lifestyle brands.
The role suits someone interested in the physical side of packaging: how a material behaves, how a structure holds, how a pack is put together, how it survives a transit run. The work moves between the screen and the table — drawings, dielines and technical files on one side, samples, materials and mock-ups on the other.
- Develop packaging concepts and structures for client briefs, from first idea to production ready files.
- Draw accurate dielines and technical drawings.
- Work across a wide range of materials — paper, corrugation, rigid board, flexibles, plastics, glass, metal and sustainable alternatives — and learn how each behaves in printing, forming, assembly and transit.
- Build mock-ups and prototypes in the studio to check structure, fit and unboxing.
- Work through sampling with our production team and vendors until the sample is right.
- Support artwork adaptation, specifications and production documentation.
- Keep track of new materials, print processes and developments in packaging.
- Degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, Packaging Technology or a related field. Freshers are welcome.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Exposure to ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks or Fusion 360 is a plus, as is 3D printing or laser cutting.
- A good sense of structure and geometry, and comfort thinking in flat patterns and folds.
- Willingness to prototype early and often.
- Ability to manage a few live projects at once and work independently.
- Clear communication. You will be speaking with clients, vendors and the production floor.
- A portfolio with structural or product work. Student and personal projects are fine.
