The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Operations Research Analyst (NH-1515-III) to work at Nellis AFB, NV in the Joint Center for Electromagnetic Readiness. Member will perform weapon systems analyses assignments developing methodologies for and evaluating the cost effectiveness of advanced weapons systems, related equipment, and force structures. Work entails unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.

Leads and/or performs highly challenging projects and studies of issues arising in the weapon systems arena of advanced difficulty. A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired.

Advanced degree(s) are preferred. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

It is required that the employee refrain from the use of illegal drugs and, if requested, submit to urinalysis testing. This is a cybersecurity position; the employee will attain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certificate(s) applicable for cybersecurity functions required for the DoD position held, within six months of filling position IAW DoDM 8140.03. Knowledge of a broad range of weapons systems, operations research analysis techniques, and possession of analytical abilities.

Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts. Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.

Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.
