Operations Manager (LTL)

OpTalent | Canada | Recruitment

EtobicokeFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

About Our Client Our client is a growing Canadian leader in LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight and cross-border logistics. Operating an extensive network across Canada and the U.S. with decades of industry experience, they have built a reputation for reliability. With hundreds of scheduled departures per month, they run one of the most dependable freight networks in the country.

The Opportunity Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to work directly alongside their Vice President of Operations. This hands-on leadership role manages day-to-day terminal operations, carrier relationships, and service delivery—allowing senior leadership to focus on strategic priorities. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, know how to lead teams, solve problems quickly, and drive performance, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Doing Oversee daily freight operations across assigned terminals to ensure on-time pickup and delivery performance. Act as the key contact for terminal supervisors, dispatchers, and carriers—resolving escalations quickly to keep freight moving. Monitor critical KPIs including on-time performance, claims ratio, load utilization, and cost per shipment, taking corrective action where needed.

Support the VP of Operations with network planning, scheduling, and capacity management. Lead and develop frontline teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Coordinate with customs and compliance teams to ensure smooth Canada–U.S. freight movement.

Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions that improve throughput and reduce costs. Support network expansion by assisting with the onboarding of new terminal locations and carrier partnerships. What We're Looking For 5–8+ years of experience in LTL, trucking, or freight operations (cross-border experience is highly valued).

Proven track record leading operations teams in a multi-location or terminal-based environment. Strong understanding of LTL freight, dispatch, and carrier management. Tech-savvy and comfortable navigating modern TMS platforms and operational reporting tools.

Exceptional communicator who can manage up to senior leadership and down to frontline staff equally well. A natural problem-solver who remains calm under pressure, decisive, and solutions-oriented. Knowledge of Canada–U.S. customs processes and cross-border compliance.

Why This Opportunity Direct visibility and access to senior leadership from day one. Stability and growth within a well-established company scaling its national presence. Real ownership and the opportunity to make an impact on a multi-terminal operation.
