We are sharing a specialised full-time W-2 opportunity for experienced XR and real-time graphics engineers with strong backgrounds in OpenXR development, immersive application architecture, performance-sensitive rendering, and interactive systems engineering. This role supports an exciting opportunity through Cincinnatus LLC, an enterprise staffing company that partners with leading technology companies to place highly skilled professionals into full-time and long-term contingent roles. Selected professionals will join an onsite team focused on building and maintaining OpenXR-based XR applications, collaborating closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to prototype, implement, and iterate on immersive experiences across OpenXR-capable runtimes and devices.
This role is especially well-suited to engineers with strong 3D real-time development experience, practical OpenXR knowledge, and deep technical understanding of XR rendering, input systems, and runtime behavior. Key Responsibilities Professionals in this role may contribute to: OpenXR Application Development Develop XR applications using OpenXR across architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration workflows Build immersive experiences that run across OpenXR-capable runtimes and devices Contribute clean, testable code and support basic CI and build scripting needs Interactive Systems & Runtime Feature Development Build interactive features including input handling for controllers, hands, action sets, and haptics Develop scene and interaction systems such as grabbing, ray interactions, and 3D UI workflows Integrate platform and runtime features including tracking spaces, anchor-like constructs, and relevant OpenXR extensions such as passthrough or scene understanding Rendering, Debugging & Performance Optimization Implement rendering and performance optimizations including frame pacing and latency-sensitive updates Debug runtime and device issues related to graphics, tracking, and input, and provide clear reproduction steps and fixes Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering stakeholders and document designs, tradeoffs, and technical decisions Ideal Profile Strong candidates may have: 3+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent Hands-on experience shipping 3D real-time applications such as XR, games, simulation, or visualization Practical experience with OpenXR core concepts including instances, sessions, swapchains, spaces, and actions Strong skills in C/C++ and/or C#, along with solid debugging ability Experience with a real-time engine or framework such as Unity with the OpenXR plugin ecosystem, Unreal XR pipelines, or custom or native OpenXR rendering with Vulkan, OpenGL, or DirectX Strong understanding of rendering and performance constraints for XR, including 72, 90, or 120 FPS targets, GPU and CPU bottlenecks, and latency concerns Preferred qualifications Experience shipping at least one OpenXR-based app or feature to production Familiarity with OpenXR extensions such as hand tracking, eye gaze, foveated rendering, and scene or space-related extensions Graphics experience with Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX, shaders, and profiling tools such as RenderDoc or engine profilers Android XR experience including Gradle, NDK, JNI, or low-level platform integration Experience building reusable components or frameworks for XR interaction or app scaffolding Why This Opportunity Contribute specialised XR and OpenXR engineering expertise to a high-impact technical role Work on immersive applications spanning runtime integration, interaction systems, and performance-sensitive rendering Join a structured enterprise environment through a full-time W-2 contingent role Competitive hourly compensation with strong relevance across next-generation XR and real-time software development Contract Details Full-time W-2 role through Cincinnatus LLC Contingent position supporting a leading technology company Onsite in Redmond, WA, USA Hourly compensation of $75–$105 per hour This is not a freelance or project-based engagement Roles through Cincinnatus are structured, role-based positions that typically involve full-time or fixed-term commitments and close collaboration with client teams Applicants must be located in the United States Cincinnatus does not sponsor visas and will not provide visa sponsorship for this role Start date: Immediate About the Platform This opportunity is being recruited through our professional network in connection with a role administered by Cincinnatus LLC.
