Job Description Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home\nFull Time | Permanent\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead a Children’s Residential Home supporting young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH).\n\nThis is a senior leadership role responsible for compliance, operational performance, safeguarding standards and the overall quality of care within the home.\n\nThe position is suitable for experienced residential leaders seeking autonomy, accountability and the opportunity to shape culture and outcomes within a regulated environment.\n\nThe Role\n\nLeadership & Team Management\n\n• Provide strong, inspirational leadership to the senior team and wider staff group\n• Line manage managers and delegated staff, ensuring high standards of supervision and development\n• Promote a positive, accountable and values-led culture\n• Oversee recruitment, workforce planning and staff deployment\n• Ensure mandatory training compliance exceeds required standards\n\nOperational Management\n\n• Oversee referrals, admissions and placement matching\n• Ensure effective use of care management and reporting systems\n• Maintain staffing levels aligned to children’s needs\n• Contribute to strategic planning and service development\n• Deliver against agreed occupancy and performance targets\n\nQuality Assurance & Compliance\n\n• Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, including Ofsted\n• Audit care provision against national standards and local authority requirements\n• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and activity planning\n• Investigate incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns appropriately\n• Lead on disciplinary and performance processes where required\n\nFinancial & Resource Management\n\n• Manage the home within agreed budgets\n• Monitor agency usage and temporary staffing\n• Oversee financial controls including petty cash and resource allocation\n\nSafeguarding & Health & Safety\n\n• Maintain a strong safeguarding culture\n• Ensure health and safety compliance across the service\n• Promote a child-centred, structured and safe environment\n\nEssential Requirements\n\n• Recognised Social Work qualification or Level 4+ professional qualification relevant to children\n• Level 4+ Management/Leadership qualification\n• Eligibility for or completion of Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (if applicable)\n• Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare within the last 5 years\n• At least 1 year managing and supervising staff\n• Experience working with young people with SEMH\n• Strong knowledge of children’s residential regulations and safeguarding\n• Enhanced DBS suitable for working with children\n• Full UK driving licence\n\nDesirable\n\n • Experience working with Local Authority commissioning teams\n• Experience implementing business growth or service expansion\n• Experience managing HR processes\n• Fieldwork or social work background\n\nIdeal Candidate\n\nYou are operationally strong and compliance-focused.\nYou understand Ofsted frameworks and regulatory accountability.\nYou combine safeguarding leadership with business acumen.\nYou lead with integrity, structure and consistency.\n\nYou are confident managing budgets, performance and staff culture while maintaining a child-centred ethos.\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n\n• Permanent senior leadership position\n• Opportunity to shape service development\n• Support from regional leadership structure\n• Ongoing professional development
