Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to appoint a Nursery Teacher to join their dedicated team from September.

Nursery Teacher - Role Overview

As a Nursery Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. You will create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.

You will work closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and parents to support each child's academic, social, and emotional development while fostering curiosity, independence, and confidence.

Nursery Teacher - Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver engaging, play-based learning opportunities aligned with the EYFS Framework
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning to meet the individual needs of all children
  • Differentiate activities to support children with a range of learning needs, including SEND
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment both indoors and outdoors

Child Development & Wellbeing

  • Support children's early development across all areas of learning
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
  • Build strong relationships that encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing classroom environment

Teamwork & Professional Practice

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
  • Observe, assess, and report on children's progress in line with EYFS requirements
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community

Nursery Teacher - Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent and relevant UK teaching experience within a Nursery or Early Years setting
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A reflective, enthusiastic, and child-centred approach to teaching and learning
  • Must live locally to Gateshead—no relocatio
