Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be supporting Abbeyfield Belfast with the recruitment of a Night Concierge (Awake) to join the team at Harberton Hall in South Belfast.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is dependable, caring and confident working independently overnight. The successful candidate will help ensure residents feel safe and secure throughout the night and receive a warm welcome in the morning.

Harberton Hall, South Belfast


Hours of Work

24 hours per week

Two 12-hour shifts each week, working 8.00pm8.00am between Monday and Sunday on a rota basis.


Salary

£13.98 per hour

£26,170.56 per annum full-time equivalent, based on 36 hours per week.

The actual pro-rata salary for 24 hours per week is £17,447.04 per annum.

About the Role

The Night Concierge will play an important role in the safe and effective overnight operation of Harberton Hall.


You will secure and monitor the building, welcome residents returning during the night, respond appropriately to emergencies and complete a range of cleaning, practical and administrative duties.


The role may particularly suit someone with experience as a Night Support Worker, Concierge, Night Porter, Residential Support Worker or Facilities Assistant who is comfortable taking responsibility and working independently overnight.


Key Responsibilities

The Night Concierges responsibilities will include:


  • Securing the building as part of the nightly lock-up procedure.

  • Welcoming residents returning after 11.00pm and ensuring they return safely to their apartments.

  • Undertaking cleaning duties within communal areas once these have been vacated by residents and following evening events.

  • Removing recycling and waste from communal areas and residents apartments to the outside bin area.

  • Completing laundry duties when required.

  • Assisting the kitchen with food preparation when required.

  • Setting up rooms for events.

  • Completing required maintenance and health and safety checks.

  • Monitoring internal systems, including boilers and heat exchangers.

  • Responding appropriately to emergencies and helping ensure the safety of residents and other staff members.

  • Providing an effective handover at the end of each shift, including communicating and recording any incidents or accidents.


About You

To be considered for this role, you must have:


  • A good standard of written and spoken English.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of older people and the challenges they may experience in their everyday lives.

  • Confidence in responding to emergencies.

  • Domestic cleaning and laundry experience.

  • The discretion required to maintain confidentiality.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including accurate record-keeping.

  • The initiative and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • A general awareness of health and safety.


It would be beneficial if you also have:


  • Experience of working with members of the public.

  • Previous experience of awake-night work.
