Job Description
Mar Recruitment & Consulting, a specialized consultancy within the maritime and logistics sector, is currently seeking a NDT Technician, to join a leading international marine services provider specialized in the maintenance and repair of sailing yachts and superyachts.
Your Mission
As an NDT Level 2 Technician, your mission is to ensure the structural integrity and quality of RigPro’s world-class composite spars and rigging systems. Through expert ultrasonic inspection, accurate reporting, and international field support, you will help safeguard the performance, reliability, and safety of high-performance racing and superyacht programmes worldwide.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct contact ultrasonic testing of CFRP laminates, bonded joints, and structural assemblies to approved NDT procedures.
- Set up and verify UT equipment (including phased array systems such as OmniScan SX) in accordance with calibration and pre-inspection requirements.
- Identify, size, and classify indications including delaminations, voids, wrinkles, and disbonds in composite structures.
- Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports documenting findings, indication locations, sizing data, and relevant inspection parameters.
- Maintain contemporaneous OJT records and inspection documentation to programme and certification body requirements.
- Support procedure development and participate in technique trials under Level III direction.
- Travel internationally to customer sites, refit yards, and race events as required.
- Operate and maintain NDT equipment in field conditions, ensuring calibration status is maintained at all times.
- Work within the company quality management system and contribute to programme audits and reviews.
Requirements
Essential Technical Skills & Expertise
- External NDT Level 2 certification in Ultrasonic Testing - ISO 9712 / PCN, NAS 410, or equivalent externally certified scheme.
- Demonstrated experience in UT of CFRP or composite structures - marine, aerospace, or wind energy sectors preferred.
- Competence in contact UT pulse-echo techniques; familiarity with phased array UT advantageous.
- Ability to set up equipment, select appropriate probes and frequencies, and calibrate to reference standards without supervision.
- Experience producing formal inspection reports to a recognised standard.
- Full, clean driving license and valid passport - willingness and ability to travel internationally at short notice.
- Based in Europe; willingness to relocate to Spain.
- English language proficiency - written and spoken to a professional standard.
Desirable Technical Skills & Expertise
- Experience with OmniScan SX or similar phased array instruments.
- Familiarity with Half-Amplitude Drop sizing methodology for composite laminates.
- Experience with thermography and other NDT techniques.
- Background in marine or superyacht programmes.
- Working knowledge of classification society requirements - Lloyd's Register, DNV, Bureau Veritas.
- Additional NDT method certifications.
- Spanish language skills advantageous but not required.
