Mechanical Engineering

Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our busbar engineered-to-order (ETO) team at our Burnfoot, Co Donegal location. The Mechanical Design Engineer will report to the Design Manager and will work on the creation of accurate and detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for custom busbar assemblies and applications. This role will collaborate very closely with BIM Team, project managers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are compliant to agency and industry standards in addition to customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage 3D models, 2D drawings, and product documentation using SolidWorks and PDM.
  • Generate 2D drawings and complete the Oracle setup for manufacturing release.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings for customised non-standard products based on project requirements and timelines.
  • Prepare and release sheet-metal fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Manage allocated design tasks in line with the Production Schedule.
  • Work on Engineered-to-Order (ETO) projects to meet customer requirements.
  • Update Working and Final drawing file locations on CADMT Application.
  • Design new products or re-engineer existing ones, with a strong focus on sheet-metal design using SolidWorks.
  • Produce clear, accurate assembly drawings for use by manufacturing and assembly teams.
  • Liaise with sheet-metal and copper ordering teams to support accurate BOM setup in line with schedule requirements.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers, Team Leaders, Lead Operators, and Site Teams regarding production queries, site measurements, and part requirements.
  • Attend the workshop floor and participate in metalwork meetings as needed, offering practical technical guidance for upcoming builds.
  • Maintain zero design errors at project closeout, following a "Do it Right First Time" approach.
  • Drive standardisation, reuse, and continuous improvement across programs and global teams.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure consistency in design practices across Vertiv manufacturing sites.
  • Track, control, and communicate BOM changes to project stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Identify and communicate drawing or specification discrepancies promptly to maintain quality.
  • Conduct design reviews at each stage as defined in the Design Control Plan.
  • Adhere to company Health & Safety guidelines at both factory and site locations.

Essential

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 Year Experience post qualifying.
  • SolidWorks (Sheet metal, Part Modelling, Assembly, Drawing)
  • AutoCAD
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • SolidWorks Configurations
  • DriveWorks Basics Knowledge
  • SolidWorks Macros.
