Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer participates in a cross-functional team to design, develop, and test new products. They are expected to develop mechanical components and technology strategies for new products that meet and exceed customer requirements. This employee functions as a key member of a project team, taking on specific tasks assigned by the functional manager and ensures that the engineering aspects of the product are considered and addressed.
The Mechanical Engineer is a collaborative role which ensures the final product can be manufactured, sold, and maintained within Precor product expectations. Responsibilities Designs, develops, analyzes and documents product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements of Precor and its customers. Develops core technologies required by Precor to sustain or improve its competitive advantage.
Develops design improvements, based on field data and customer feedback that enhance the reliability, profitability, ease of use and overall customer experience of Precor products. A desire and passion for continuous improvement is essential for success. Identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes and equipment which improve the capability of the department.
Effectively communicates information to company personnel, customers and suppliers which they require to do their jobs. This communication must be objective and accomplished in a neutral to positive manner. Appreciates and thrives in an environment of feedback with an eye towards continuous improvement both personally and from a product standpoint.
Performs various tasks requiring creativity and the ability to work both independently and with others. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering 5+ years of product design/engineering experience, including the use of standard mechanical engineering analysis and software (i.e. FEA, kinematics and tolerance analysis). manufacturability and assembly, manufacture of plastic molded parts, manufacture of sheet metal, bent tube and welded components, cast and powder metal parts.
Experience in the selection and design of power transfer products such as bearings, shafting, screw drives, pulleys and belts. Ability to analyze components and assemblies for static strength and fatigue life. Ability to use industry standard CAD systems for solid modeling and surfacing, design and documentation.
Ability to use standard shop tools and assemble your designs. Ability to correctly use standard test and measurement equipment to quantify design margins and problems. Ability to identify, quantify, and permanently resolve problems.
Ability to handle simultaneous tasks in an environment which can be stressful at times. Ability to use Windows based PC's and standard software applications including Excel and Word. Ability to positively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments.
Ability to establish technical standards, methods and priorities. Ability to communicate plans, projects and capabilities to Senior Management. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering Pay Range Pay Range: $105,000 to $120,000 The pay range represents the low and high end of the anticipated pay range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters.
The actual pay offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
