Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description Job Description Position Summary: This position is responsible for the design and development of new industrial EV, Trailer and Pallet Jack products as well as performance testing, including getting your hands dirty on test vehicles. Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision and be committed to finishing tasks on time with no excuses. Must be proficient in SolidWorks (will be tested during interview).

This is a demanding but fulfilling position for the right guy (or girl). Responsibilities: Design industrial products used in manufacturing and material handling including but not limited to: EV (Electric Vehicle), Trailers and Pallet Jacks. Projects to include not only new products, but updates to existing products (known as “VIP” or Value Improvement Projects).

Take measurements of existing parts to use in the design of new/modified products using standard measuring tools (such as calipers). Participate in and document performance review and testing (both test bench and on-vehicle). Verification of design parameters including accuracy, suitability and costs.

Documentation including BOM’s, test reports, draft text for Standard Work Instruction Sheets, etc. Physical Demands: · May involve some repetitive motions. · Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. · May be required to work in the shop area on vehicles. · May also engage in occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching and being in awkward positions when working on vehicles. · Due to the open environment of the shop area, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold. Requirements: · Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering · Must be able to communicate effectively. · 3+ years of experience in a Manufacturing environment required. · Knowledge of materials and manufacturing (machining, welding, casting) processes required. · Proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). · Must be able to follow and carry through assignments with minimal supervision.
