High School Mathematics Teacher - MS & High School (Pool SY 2026 - 2027) Kickapoo Nation School - Powhattan, Kansas Full-Time | 10 Month Contract Reports To: Superintendent Position Overview The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and other advanced mathematics subjects while aligning instruction with Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Mathematics Standards & Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Standards . The teacher creates an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student needs and promotes critical thinking and mathematical reasoning. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with KSDE standards.
Teach courses such as Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics . Promote mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Incorporate real-world applications and culturally relevant learning opportunities.
Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners. Prepare students for state assessments, college readiness benchmarks, and career pathways.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Participate in IEP and Section 504 meetings as appropriate.
Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and school improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate student records in compliance with FERPA and applicable regulations. Participate in professional development and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Valid Kansas Teaching License with appropriate Mathematics endorsement issued by KSDE. Out of state license accepted in Lieu of KS certification.
Knowledge of KSDE Mathematics Standards and curriculum frameworks. Strong understanding of algebraic reasoning, geometry, statistics, and advanced mathematics concepts. Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
Strong classroom management, instructional planning, and communication skills. Ability to analyze student data to guide instructional decisions. Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools.
Successful completion of required background checks. Teaching experience in secondary mathematics is required Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting. The position requires standing, moving throughout the classroom, and supervising students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
