Forklift Operator (Counterbalance / Reach) - Steel & Lumber Yard
Vaughan, ON (Courtland Avenue)
$25.82/hour
Day Shift Transitioning to Continental Shifts
We are currently seeking an experienced Counterbalance and Reach Forklift Operator to join a growing industrial team in Vaughan. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in steel yards, lumber yards, construction materials, equipment rental companies, and outdoor industrial operations.
We are looking for operators who are comfortable handling heavy materials, loading and unloading trailers, working outdoors, and operating large-capacity forklifts in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Schedule- Initial Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Future Schedule: Continental shifts, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, rotating days
- Candidates must be flexible and available to transition to the continental schedule
- Safely operate Counterbalance, Raymond Reach, propane-powered, and electric-powered forklifts
- Load and unload trailers, flatbeds, and transport trucks
- Handle materials and loads weighing up to 10,000 lbs
- Move steel, lumber, building materials, and finished products throughout the yard and facility
- Perform outdoor yard work in varying weather conditions and inside work as well
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any concerns
- Maintain inventory accuracy and material locations
- Utilize ERP systems and computer software to track inventory, receipts, and shipments
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Certification
- Minimum 2 years of forklift operating experience
- Experience operating Counterbalance, Raymond Reach, electric, and propane-powered forklifts
- Experience handling loads weighing up to 10,000 lbs
- Previous experience in a steel company, lumber company, construction materials supplier, industrial distributor, equipment rental company, or outdoor yard environment
- Experience loading and unloading trailers and flatbeds
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
- Computer savvy with experience using ERP systems, inventory software, RF scanners, or warehouse management systems
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required
- Reliable transportation to Vaughan
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
