At the university, the Marketing and Communications function is responsible for enhancing and protecting the university's reputation. The marketing function specifically leads through advertising and promotion, while developing governance, protocols and templates to uphold consistent, unified and effective marketing activities across campus.

The Marketing Specialist, CEE Marketing is a professional marketing role responsible for planning, delivering and optimizing marketing initiatives that support Co-operative and Experiential Education priorities. The role applies specialized marketing knowledge and professional judgment to develop, implement and refine integrated marketing activities across campaigns, content, events, digital channels and audience engagement initiatives. Working within established marketing strategy, governance and standards, the role ensures marketing activities are coordinated, audience-focused and aligned with institutional positioning, brand frameworks and business objectives.

Within CEE, the role independently plans and delivers integrated marketing initiatives that promote Waterloo's co-operative education and experiential learning programs. Collaborates and works closely with CEE stakeholders, the role develops and executes marketing campaigns and audience engagement initiatives that support prospective and current students, employers, partners and other audiences, while ensuring alignment with institutional marketing strategy, brand standards and CEE priorities.

Key Accountabilities

CEE Marketing and Audience Engagement

  • Develops and delivers marketing initiatives that support Co-operative and Experiential Education priorities, including prospective and current students, employers, partners and experiential learning audiences.
  • Applies specialized knowledge of the co-operative education, work-integrated learning and experiential education environment to inform marketing approaches and audience engagement strategies.
  • Develops audience-focused content, messaging and marketing materials that promote programs, services, opportunities and outcomes related to Co-operative and Experiential Education.
  • Translates complex academic, employer and experiential learning information into clear, relevant and compelling marketing content for diverse audiences.
  • Adapts marketing approaches, messaging and content to address the unique needs, interests and motivations of prospective students, current students, employers and external partners.
  • Supports promotion of the University's co-operative education and experiential learning value proposition through integrated marketing activities and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Identifies emerging audience needs, market considerations and engagement opportunities within the co-operative education and experiential learning environment to support marketing effectiveness.

Marketing Planning and Delivery

  • Develops marketing plans for assigned initiatives, campaigns and audience engagement activities aligned with institutional objectives.
  • Translates project requirements, audience needs and marketing priorities into coordinated activities and deliverables.
  • Leads delivery of assigned marketing work, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines and intended outcomes.
  • Applies marketing knowledge and professional judgment to adapt approaches based on audience, channel and project requirements.
  • Supports achievement of marketing objectives through effective planning, coordination and execution.
  • Identifies implementation challenges and recommends practical solution s to support delivery objectives
