Marketing Coordinator
Amba Cambridge
Job Description
Marketing Coordinator
Cambridge Street Hospitality Group · East Cambridge, MA
Part-time to start (~20 hours/week), with a clear path to a full-time salaried role
About Amba
Amba is an East Mediterranean café and rotisserie in East Cambridge, one of the concepts in Cambridge Street Hospitality Group, the chef-driven restaurant group behind some of Cambridge's most loved dining rooms. Our menu comes from partner and executive chef Will Gilson, a two-time James Beard nominee: chicken roasted in house, brined and rubbed with shawarma spices and finished with dried roses, coffee our regulars plan their mornings around, and a sauce with a story that travels from India through the Middle East. We sit at the center of First Street Market, a year-round market and gathering space, and we were just named one of The Boston Globe's 2026 Best of the Best.
We're small, we're growing, and we're building our marketing for the first time, on purpose and from the ground up.
The opportunity
This is a rare early-career role where you actually own something. Most coordinator jobs hand you someone else's busywork. This one hands you two real goals, get more people through our doors and get them coming back more often, plus the tools to move both, with senior marketing leadership in your corner to learn from.
You'll start by running the programs that turn first-time guests into regulars, and grow into the wider work of building awareness for Amba across our neighborhood and our channels. If you're the kind of person who's been quietly marketing something of your own and itching for a place to do it for real, this is that place. Do it well, and the role grows with you, in scope and in pay, into a full-time salaried marketing position as Amba grows.
What you'll do
- Run our email and lifecycle marketing, the automated welcome, win-back, and regulars campaigns that keep guests coming back, plus our calendar of seasonal and event promotions.
- Create the content that feeds it, writing and designing social posts and emails that sound and look like Amba.
- Own the weekly number. Each week you'll update our growth dashboard and tell the team one thing: are more guests becoming regulars, and what moved it. You'll be the person with the answer.
- Run small, smart experiments. Test an offer, a subject line, a new promotion; measure it honestly; keep what works and drop what doesn't.
- Keep our customer data clean and useful in Square, so we always know who our regulars are and how to reach them.
Where the role grows
As you find your footing, this role expands into the work that drives real awareness and frequency for Amba:
- Local and field marketing. Get Amba in front of our neighborhood, the offices, residents, students, and partners around First Street, through community events, local partnerships, and on-the-ground presence at the market and beyond.
- Catering. Help build catering into a real channel, the messaging, the outreach, and the campaigns that turn nearby workplaces and events into recurring orders, especially in the dayparts where we have room to grow.
- Delivery. Grow and sharpen our presence on delivery platforms, improving how we show up, tracking what's working, and turning first-time delivery orders into repeat customers.
You won't do all of this on day one. You'll grow into it, with support, as the role and Amba scale together.
Who we're looking for
Someone hungry, humble, and hardworking. You don't need a marketing title or years of experience. You need instinct and drive, the kind of person who's run an Instagram for a side hustle, marketed a campus club, built an Etsy shop, or grown something from nothing because you couldn't help it.
You're a strong writer who can make content, not just schedule it. You like numbers and aren't fazed by a dashboard, you can look at results and understand what they're telling you. You're proactive: when you have a question or hit a wall, you reach out instead of waiting. And you're genuinely curious about food, hospitality, and what makes people fall in love with a place.
Familiarity with tools like Square, Canva, Constant Contact, or social scheduling platforms is a plus, but we care far more about how you think than what you've already used.
The details
Roughly 20 hours a week to start, with in-person time at Amba for our weekly team meeting, this is a role where you're part of the team, not just behind a screen. Compensation is competitive and set in line with our other part-time roles, with a clear path to a full-time salaried position (in the $60-65K range) as the role expands and Amba's guest base grows. Current and recent students from Boston-area universities are encouraged to apply.
To apply
Send us two things:
Your resume.
And something that shows us how you think about marketing, your pick of format. Write us a short note breaking down a campaign or a brand you love and why it works. Or send a one-to-two-minute video doing the same. Or, best of all, market the one thing you know better than anyone: yourself. Make the case, in whatever medium you'd use, for why you're the person for this role.
We'd rather see one real thing you made than a flawless resume. Show us your instinct.
