Manufacturing Engineering Specialist - Critical Environments The Manufacturing Engineering Specialist is responsible for supporting and optimizing production by improving processes, introducing new products and equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective manufacturing operations. This role leads project execution, drives continuous improvement, develops production documentation and standards, and provides technical expertise across equipment, layout, and workflow optimization. The Specialist also plays a key role in equipment commissioning, operator training, and capital investments, ensuring that production systems remain reliable and aligned with business and quality requirements.
Position Overview The Manufacturing Engineering Specialist will work closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality and safety while delivering projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Lead the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Support product launches and engineering changes by completing product cost analyses and leading commissioning activities on the production floor.
Plan, organize, and direct project execution, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in alignment with scope and requirements. Identify equipment or process issues that pose potential safety risks and lead corrective action initiatives. Review, analyze, and approve capital expenditure requests, including technical and financial justification.
Procure new production equipment and lead installation, commissioning, and handover to operations. Champion lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, SMED, line balancing, waste reduction, and kanban. Continuously develop expertise in problem solving, continuous improvement, manufacturability, and manufacturing best practices.
Support production by developing job instruction details, training production staff, and performing process audits. Create and maintain shop floor layouts, production line configurations, machine capacity data, and labor cost standards. Ensure drawing packages comply with requirements established by design engineering and manufacturing.
Provide documentation support, including engineering requests (ERs), engineering change notices (ECNs), work instructions, and related documentation. Lead planning and implementation of department layout updates and line‑balancing initiatives to optimize labor, machine utilization, and waste reduction. Lead the planning, commissioning, operator certification, work‑instruction development, and troubleshooting for test‑rig equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned. Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ideally Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum: Associate’s degree in Process Technology or Industrial Engineering.
Experience and Skills Strong passion for manufacturing, operations, and continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Collaborative team player with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities with a demonstrated problem‑solving mindset. Solid technical and mechanical aptitude with a high attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and blueprints.
Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and drive change. Highly organized, task‑focused, and dependable in follow‑through. Proficiency with computer‑aided design software such as AutoCAD and Solid Edge/SolidWorks.
Alignment with Price’s Corporate Values. Experience in sheet‑metal manufacturing or the HVAC industry is an asset. Design experience is an asset.
