Reports To Manager, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering Job Title Manufacturing Engineer Based In Ottawa, ON Term Full Time About Nanometrics With 40 years of seismic technology and industry application experience, Nanometrics is a global, award‑winning company providing monitoring solutions and equipment for studying artificial and natural seismicity. About the role The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development and optimization of the manufacturing processes involved in the assembly and test of custom Nanometrics products. Responsibilities Engineering Develop and document robust, flexible and efficient manufacturing processes and procedures to ensure products are manufacturable and cost effective Implement initiatives to optimize utilization of machinery, materials, and resources Key stakeholder in Design for Manufacturability within Manufacturing environment Support the successful transition of New Product Introduction between R&D and Manufacturing Develop quality and maintenance standards, schedules and programs Focus on developing strategies that boost efficiency and increase profit margin (e.g., equipment upgrades, product design changes, assembly line organization) Support production in investigating yield crashes, manufacturing station issues, and part non‑compliance Identify and investigate quality issues adhering to the CAPA process Personal Leadership Work closely with technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, and other engineers Develop project plans for new initiatives, and ensure those plans are well communicated and executed in a timely manner Requirements Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electromechanical or equivalent required 3‑5 years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting Current knowledge of latest equipment, software, data archiving, trends and approaches to product testing and automated test methods Working knowledge of the measurement methods and techniques used in evaluating mechanical parts, analog, digital, and RF systems Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non‑engineering team members in a clear manner Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills, able to create alternative solutions to problems Excellent time management and project management skills Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures Assets Skills in Google Suite, MS Excel, MS Access (or other SQL‑based databases), and LabView; Java, Python, C/C++ or other programming languages Experience in document management (product change orders, BOMs, test specifications and procedures, etc.) and administrative processes Experience with LEAN and SixSigma principles and processes Experience with JIRA Why Nanometrics?
