Job Title: Manager of Product Design Area: Member and Participant Experience Reports to: Product Strategy & Design Director, Member and Participant Growth Classification: Exempt Location: Evanston, IL This position is designated as Hybrid - Fully Flexible and expected to work from our world headquarters office once per month to several times a week. The specific days in the office are determined by managers based on business requirements. Rotary is under the jurisdiction of Illinois employment laws; we require all employees to live within reasonable daily commuting distance to Evanston.

Position Overview The Manager of Product Design leads the evolution of Rotary's digital user experience by establishing a cohesive, research-driven approach across portals and applications. They bring deep expertise in user experience and usability research to create simple, intuitive, and accessible experiences that scale globally.
This role sets the direction for simplified navigation, personalization, and guided experiences, aligning teams around shared UX principles and a mature design system that supports long-term product growth. You are a hands-on UX design leader who turns strategy and research into clear, usable experiences. You work closely with product managers, engineers, business stakeholders and users to understand needs, define workflows, and create wireframes and interaction models that simplify complex problems.
You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, recognizing patterns across products, and helping teams align around consistent UX standards. You focus on usability, accessibility, and clarity, ensuring users can move through Rotary's digital products with confidence and ease. You Will Have 8 years of professional experience designing user experiences for consumer or SaaS digital products.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, UX Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX process, including research, wireframes, interaction models, and measurable impact on user experience. Strong experience creating wireframes, user flows, journey maps, and low- to mid-fidelity prototypes.
Expertise using Figma or similar tools for UX design and collaboration. Experience designing and scaling UX patterns across multiple products or platforms. Knowledge of accessibility standards and experience designing for global, localized audiences.
Familiarity collaborating with engineering teams and understanding technical constraints (HTML, CSS, JavaScript knowledge a plus, not a requirement). You Are Good At Translating user research, data, and insights into clear experience strategies and design decisions. Communicating UX rationale and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Working across multiple teams and initiatives while maintaining consistency in user experience. Partnering with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to align on shared outcomes. Identifying patterns across products to drive cohesion and efficiency.
You Will Be Responsible For UX Strategy & Ecosystem Coherence Leading the evolution of a cohesive UX approach across Rotary's digital ecosystem. Ensuring consistency in navigation, interaction patterns, and end-to-end workflows across products. Design System Maturity & Governance Partnering with the design team to mature and govern the design system.
Defining and maintaining experience principles, reusable patterns, and supporting documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery Partnering with Product Managers and Engineering teams to translate UX concepts, wireframes, and flows into scalable, implemented solutions. Ensuring design intent is preserved from concept through delivery.
Accessibility, Usability & Inclusive Design Championing accessibility, usability, and inclusive design practices across all digital products. Embedding inclusive design standards into processes, tools, and team expectations. Team Leadership & Talent Development Managing and mentoring a small team of UX designers.
Fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture focused on learning, quality, and continuous improvement.
