Manager, Engineering Sciences - Electrical Engineering London, England, United Kingdom As part of our expanding Global Engineering and Scientific consulting team, you will work at the forefront of todayâs most complex engineering and scientific challenges. You will be engaged in analysing failures of a myriad of products from a variety of industriesâautomotive, construction, consumer products, consumer electronics, and medical devices. Secretariat leverages our diverse technical expertise and industry knowledge to provide clients with worldâclass value in identifying solutions that drive performance and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct handsâon failure analysis investigations. Contribute to crossâdisciplinary investigations spanning multiple time zones. Advise clients on the design, evaluation, and performance of electrical components, PCB layouts, power systems, and control systems, leveraging CADâbased analysis and review tools.
Develop test plans and conduct experiments (simulation, validation, and performance tests) to diagnose faults, potential failures, and ensure reliability and performance. Assist with field inspections. Prepare technically detailed documentation, including technical reports and schematics, with a crossâdisciplinary team.
Advise on global regulatory compliance and best manufacturing practices in relevant industries such as automotive and consumer electronics. Conduct root cause analysis of failures involving battery systems, BMS, BESS, EVs, power electronics, and consumer electronic products; perform proactive engineering assessments and evaluate design adequacy to identify latent risks and assess alternative mitigations. Communicate with clients and counsel on technical matters.
Assist with the preparation of technical reports. Develop positive relationships with colleagues, peers, and clients. Participate in the preparation of hearings, trials, and mediations.
Manage dayâtoâday requirements of multiple engagements. Provide project management and project budget oversight. QUALIFICATIONS Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related science.
Experience applying electrical and power systems engineering principles across battery systems, BMS, BESS, EVs, power electronics, and consumer electronics; experience in laboratory or applied engineering environments. Proficiency with CAD and analytical tools (Altium, SPICE, MATLAB) to support engineering analysis, design review, and technical investigations. Experience designing and executing experimental and test programmes, including circuitâlevel prototyping, validation testing, and use of electrical diagnostic and measurement equipment.
Experience assessing failure mechanisms alongside systemâlevel design and operational decisions in realâworld industrial applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Intellectual curiosity and passion to investigate a wide array of problems, both within and beyond oneâs area of specialization.
Strong deductive reasoning skills. Ability to assimilate information in unfamiliar situations and develop creative solutions to complex problems. Desire to lead tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firm.
Willingness to travel as needed. Previous industry or consulting experience is highly valued. Dualâlanguage fluency is valued but not required.
