About The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join GMB Water as its Management Accountant, becoming the organisation’s dedicated finance business partner and independent finance voice. Reporting directly to the CE, you’ll work closely with the Executive, Board and Mount Barker District Council to provide commercial and strategic financial advice that supports informed decision‑making.
This is a broad, hands‑on management accounting role where you’ll take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, long‑term financial modelling, board reporting, capital and asset accounting, and regulatory financial reporting. You’ll also play a key role in helping shape the finance function as GMB Water continues to grow.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include- Lead the annual budgeting process, forecasts and long‑term financial planning.
- Prepare monthly management and Board reports, providing meaningful financial insights.
- Develop financial models and business cases to support strategic decision‑making and capital investment.
- Partner with the CE, leadership team, Board and Council to provide commercial financial advice.
- Support regulatory reporting, financial compliance, external audits and annual financial statements.
- Work closely with Mount Barker District Council’s finance team to ensure strong financial governance and reporting.
- Provide financial analysis to support funding, borrowing, asset management and operational decisions.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Previous experience in management accounting, finance business partnering or commercial finance.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to work directly with senior leaders and Boards.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems.
- Experience within local government, utilities, infrastructure or another regulated environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
