Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician - Exeter

Location: Exeter, Devon
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off 
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

KPI Recruiting are working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business in Exeter who are looking to recruit an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Technician to join their busy maintenance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically or mechanically biased engineer who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and wants to develop their career within a highly engineered operation.

The Role

As a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.

  • Fault-find using electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.

  • Troubleshoot control panels, electrical systems and automated equipment.

  • Complete maintenance activities through a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Identify recurring faults and contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.

  • Carry out mechanical work including fabrication, welding and equipment modifications.

  • Undertake minor electrical installation and modification work where required.

  • Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and environmental compliance.

  • Work effectively as part of a shift-based maintenance team while also being capable of working independently.

About You

We are looking for a technically capable Maintenance Engineer who can demonstrate solid industrial maintenance experience.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.

  • A completed engineering apprenticeship or strong equivalent industrial experience.

  • Multiskilled electrical and mechanical maintenance experience.

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical drawings.

  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience with fabrication and welding.

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.

  • Good computer skills and experience using maintenance management systems.

  • A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.

Electrical or Mechanical specialists will also be considered where they have strong industrial maintenance experience and relevant additional skills.

Experience with vacuum technology would be advantageous but is not essential.
