Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation within the biomedical research sector for a Site Maintenance Technician to join their facilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual looking to build a long-term career in site maintenance, with full training provided including exposure to basic electrical tasks.

The Role

As Site Maintenance Technician, you'll support the day-to-day upkeep of the site, ensuring buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to a high standard. You'll work alongside experienced maintenance staff, gaining hands‑on exposure to a variety of trades, including some basic electrical work, as part of a varied and rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine maintenance checks and general repairs across the site
  • Assisting with basic electrical tasks under supervision (e.g. changing fittings, minor repairs)
  • Supporting plumbing, carpentry, and general handyman duties as required
  • Maintaining grounds, external areas, and site cleanliness
  • Reporting faults and escalating issues to senior maintenance staff or contractors
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site health and safety procedures
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance schedules

What We're Looking For

  • Some experience in a maintenance, labouring, handyman, or trades‑related role
  • A willingness to learn, including developing electrical skills, no formal electrical qualification required
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with good problem‑solving ability
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a varied role
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
