Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and street-related duties within the Streets Department, with a primary focus on crack sealing and roadway maintenance. This position will also provide support to other departments as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, willing to work outdoors, and able to perform physically demanding work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform crack sealing and other routine street maintenance activities.

• Assist with roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and right-of-way maintenance.

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely.

• Assist with setup, cleanup, traffic control, and work-zone activities.

• Load, unload, transport, and organize materials and equipment.

• Perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, digging, and standing for extended periods.

• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.

• Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and applicable regulations.

• Assist other City departments with maintenance and general labor duties as assigned.

• Work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with coworkers and the public.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.

• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to perform physically demanding manual labor.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.

• Previous experience in street maintenance, construction, landscaping, public works, or general maintenance is helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working around roadway and maintenance equipment. Employees must be able to safely perform assigned duties in outdoor and potentially strenuous working conditions.

Schedule & Compensation

• $18.00 per hour

• Temporary position, 90+ days

• Outdoor work and variable conditions should be expected.

• Additional hours or schedule requirements may vary based on departmental needs.
