\nDescription
\nAlbany Health Campus has 8 paediatric beds in a mixed adult and paediatric ward and a 4 bed nursery. The nursery can admit babies down to 34 weeks who require low level care (IV antibiotics/NGT feeds/phototherapy/short term CPAP).
\nThe hospital has an advanced paediatric trainee, a paediatric registrar and 2 RMOs. The junior staff are on site Monday – Friday 8am – 8:30pm and on weekends from 8am – 12pm. Outside of those hours, there are junior staff in the hospital to assist but they are not specifically paediatric and are also ward cover for the rest of the hospital.
The GP Obstetricians are first on call for the neonatal deliveries and paediatrics attends only if there are significant issues. We always attend if a baby requires admission to the nursery. There is an on-call component which is shared amongst the 5 paediatricians.
\nWe acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians and Elders — past, present and emerging — of the lands and waters on which RACP members and staff live, learn and work. RACP acknowledges Māori as tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partners in Aotearoa New Zealand.
