Work Environment

This role is designed as a remote position, offering the flexibility of working from home while also engaging with clients in our outpatient office setting. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients, addressing their unique mental health concerns and prior histories.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and prevention strategies by creating effective pre-crisis and crisis plans that adhere to best practices in mental health treatment.
  • Document all sessions and therapeutic interventions promptly and accurately, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
  • Employ evidence-based screening tools to identify behavioral health conditions as directed by the clinical team.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement positive behavior support plans that benefit client outcomes.
  • Engage with licensing and accreditation procedures to uphold the highest levels of organizational integrity and service efficacy.
  • Serve as a link between clients and essential service systems, state agencies, and community resources, enhancing access to comprehensive care.
  • Maintain consistent and open communication with staff and stakeholders to promote synergy within the organization and adherence to our mission.
  • Identify new partnership opportunities and funding sources to ensure sustainability and expand the range of services provided.
  • Participate in professional development activities, such as workshops and conferences, to enhance your expertise and share knowledge with the community.
  • Embody and advocate for the organizational mission, values, and philosophy in all professional interactions.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Clinic Director to support operational needs and client care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on the geriatric population, providing crucial mental health support for seniors dealing with issues related to aging, including grief, life transitions, and mental health disorders. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in addiction therapy, you will play a vital role in addressing both substance-related issues and the co-occurring mental health conditions prevalent among older adults.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
  • A valid and active license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State is mandatory.
  • A minimum of four years of recent experience specifically in geriatric counseling and mental health support is essential.
  • Advanced training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related challenges is highly preferred.

Preferred Experience

Candidate experience in addiction counseling, particularly with older adults, will be viewed favorably. Exposure to multidisciplinary team settings and previous roles involving collaborative treatment planning will enhance your application.

Compensation and Benefits
